I have never lost a shoe in the middle of the street, but I sure have seen plenty of them. I always wonder how they end up there.

I actually sat down and did a drawing of one of Jerry's old shoes, and went over the pencil lines with ink.

Then, I painted the shoe in Photoshop. I shrunk, copied and pasted it into a gritty street scene.
Awesome :) I JUST saw a white tennis shoe in the street on my way home! I always feel bad for whoever lost it, but seeing your picture made me smile - too funny!
ReplyDeleteI like your coloured shoe drawing, it looks great in the street scene :) I always wonder how shoes get caught up in the telephone wires here - can only imagaine kids playing a game to get them up there!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha! But the poor shoe is kind of sad to... or then again maybe it's happy to get away from a smelly foot!
ReplyDeleteIt is odd, isn't it...there was a shoe by the side of the road near my house for months, and then one day it just disappeared...maybe someone finally found his or her lost shoe? I love what you did here and the process you showed us.
ReplyDeleteI gotta say that this is a very interesting idea!
ReplyDeleteGreat take on lost since it could be seen two ways: which is lost, the shoe or its owner . . .
ReplyDeleteI see these all time. How does someone loose a shoe? Nice job.
ReplyDeleteThat is so great! I have often wondered how someone loses a shoe, too. I see them on the highway ... maybe looking for the lost sock....
ReplyDeleteI love the mix between drawing en photograph. Oh By the way, Anthony Woodward (170) is looking for that shoe.
ReplyDeleteI love what you did here. How you painted the shoe and where you placed it.
ReplyDeletei love the depth in the road and the great textures put into the shoe good work.
ReplyDeleteHA !! HA !! Love the idea!! Sometime I find those while driving on the freeway?! Isn't that funny? Love the illo!
ReplyDeleteI often see shoes on the highway and wonder what their stories are. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteI always wonder that too. I become sad thinking about the other lonely shoe somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteGreat illo!
I always wondered the same thing too! Your illustration is great! Ya know, today I actually saw 2, yes, not one but TWO shoes in the middle of a very busy street. That is the first time I have ever seen that.
