419 Cafe Veronese (UPDATED)

I'll be having lunch here with Seon tomorrow. While I am still congested, I guess I'm not really "sick", hopefully not contagious, and most importantly, I can now taste my food. Seon is not afraid of my germs, and she heard about this restaurant and really wants to try it. Funny, it's in my town, not hers, yet she knew about it and I didn't. Oh well, that's pretty typical for me.
We'll see how it goes...

Update: It was OK. The outdoor patio seating was intimate, overgrown with plants and decorated with lots of cute garden nick-nacks. The food was tasty but pricey, and the service was S..L..O..W.. good thing we weren't in a hurry.

Dyson Vaccuum contest for Breast Cancer

Go here and enter a contest to win a Dyson Vaccuum. Pink for Breast Cancer research.

I did.

A Medical Oxymoron?

See, it says right on the lable:
Cough Suppressant
Expectorant

That's one ingredient to make you not cough, and another ingredient that makes you cough up gobs of yucky stuff. Does anyone else see the contradictory aspect here? For myself, I will say I'm not sure how much cough suppression this medicine delivers, but I have been doing that second thing quite a bit. And I'm sure that's more than you wanted to know on a Sunday morning. Yuck.

The Egg Cuber

OK, first I must explain that I am sick with a sinus infection. My head feels like it's full of cement. As I sat blearily by while my sons ate take-out for dinner, the conversation took a turn for the weird, as I suddenly insisted that somebody somewhere has probably invented square eggs, and I proceeded to google for it.

I was not disappointed.

I have a feeling this video is probably much less amusing to a healthy person who's head is not full of cement (and various medications), but the boys did find it mildly amusing.

Right now, I can't taste anything, which is a bummer. But as soon as it returns, I need a hard boiled egg. Any shape will do.

Succulent flowers

I don't know the name of this plant. I bought it a couple of years ago, delighted by the plump, fuzzy leaves that look like animal paws. They have recently bloomed for the first time. Look how pretty!

And fuzzy, too!

Homeless cuttings

Months ago, I cut off some of my succulents that were overflowing their pots. They seemed too pretty to throw away, but I didn't have the space, new pots, or even the proper soil to put them in. So I tossed them into a little wooden box, and there they have stayed, month upon month, looking as lovely as ever, even putting out roots that had nowhere to go. Now they are a beautiful, perfectly composed picture in their own frame.

Bumper sticker

He he. This made me laugh.
